Mucki’s is a hidden jewel of a restaurant. It is located in a lush countryside setting outside of Quito. Call in a reservation to dine there and then drive about 20 minutes to a small village called El Tingo.
The uniqueness of Mucki’s
This unique place is worth the visit to discover its authentic charms and delicious food. The cuisine is traditional German with the influence of local Ecuadorian flavors. All of the vegetables are organic. They are grown on their local farm in nearby Cotopaxi.
Mucki’s also serves nice wines, pretty drinks and cold German beer.
There is also a resident garden where they grow fresh herbs. Owner Thomas spends time here tending the garden when he is not inside overseeing the restaurant.
The architectural style is reminiscent of a European chalet that you might stumble upon in the Swiss Alps, yet the scenery appears as if you are vacationing in the tropics. Its a lovely contrast.
Tomas Contag, the Owner, is a second generation family Owner as well as the Manager and Head waiter. Mucki’s has very personal service.
Tomas’s mother and father founded Mucki’s forty years ago. His parents are both German born and immigrated to Ecuador. The multiple dining rooms are still filled with a very warm spirit of family and friendship. Artifacts and antiques grace the interior.
Depending upon where you dine in Mucki’s it can feel like you are discovering Grandma’s attic or the fresh breeze of a tropical island.
Mucki’s is a wonderful place to dine and relax.
